Safety Interlock Included as Standard on US Mixers’ Electric LBC Range

When choosing an IBC tote mixer, motor power, mixing performance and ease of handling often lead the discussion. The controls that help protect the operator deserve just as much attention.

Every electric mixer in the US Mixers LBC range includes a safety interlock as standard. Integrated into the mixer’s support bridge and wired into the control circuit, the interlock prevents the mixer from starting unless it is mounted safely on a tote.

It is a practical safety feature that is rarely highlighted in competing products — and one worth checking when comparing equipment.

Helping Prevent Operation Away From the Tote

IBC/tote mixers are designed to be moved between containers. During a normal working day, an operator may lift a mixer from one tote, clean the wetted components and position it on the next container.

The LBC safety interlock helps prevent the shaft and impeller from being started while the mixer is away from its intended operating position. By making tote mounting a condition of starting, it adds protection at a routine point in the handling process.

The interlock does not replace correct installation, secure clamping and safe operating procedures. Operators must still stop and isolate the mixer before lifting, removing, cleaning or maintaining it.

Standard Equipment, Not an Optional Extra

The safety interlock is included on both the LBC-100 and LBC-200 electric IBC tote mixers.

These gear-driven mixers combine high torque at low operating speeds with the E-400 folding impeller, which passes through a standard 6-inch tote opening. The support bridge mounts directly onto the tote’s outer frame and is secured with quick-action toggle clamps.

Each electric unit also includes a factory-wired starter with motor overload protection. Together, these features provide a straightforward arrangement for mixing product directly in its original container.

Look Beyond Horsepower When Comparing Mixers

Two tote mixers with similar motor ratings can differ considerably in their mounting arrangements, controls and included equipment.

Before purchasing, ask whether a safety interlock is supplied, what it detects and whether it is connected to the mixer’s control circuit. A feature that is not mentioned in a quotation should not be assumed to be included.

At US Mixers, we believe this protection belongs in the standard specification. Customers choosing an electric LBC mixer receive the safety interlock without having to request an upgrade.
